Sengalese-American bass Jabriel Timothy Jones was born in Augsburg, Bavaria, West Germany and began his vocal studies with Professor William F. Toole and Vocal Coach Katarina Garner-Gianni in 1986. He continued his studies under the tutelage of Professor Uzee Brown, Jr. while attending Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. Jabriel has performed with many theatrical companies and orchestra choruses including the King Players, the Junior Black Academy of Arts and Letters, the San Pedro Playhouse, Seventh Street Playhouse, the Morehouse College Glee Club, the Turtle Creek Chorale, the Deep Ellum Opera Theatre, San Antonio Pocket Opera, the University of Texas at San Antonio Chamber Opera, the Dallas Symphony Chorus, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Chamber Choir under the direction of Robert Shaw.
His local theatre roles include Superintendent Budd in Albert Herring, Count Yousekevitch in Fools, Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance, Tin Man in The Wiz, Malcolm Little (El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz) in Justice: By Any Means Necessary, the Right Reverend Pete in Shout Up A Mornin', and Beauclaire in Fire on the Bayou. Currently, he is studying with Professor Timothy Jones at the University of Texas at San Antonio with aspirations of completing post-graduate work at the University of Michigan - School of Music in Ann Arbor.
